WATKD Black Belt Ceremony, 12/1/11

Congratulations to all of the WATKD Black Belts who received their Kukkiwon certifications and their embroidered Black Belts! (One side has their name and the other has West America Tae Kwon Do in written in Korean). Kukkiwon (국기원; 國技院), also known as World Taekwondo Headquarters, and home of the World Taekwondo Academy, is the official tae kwon do governing organization. All of our WATKD Black Belts are certified through Kukkiwon, making them officially internationally recognized.

WATKD Winter Camp 2011

Have an awesome holiday break at West America TKD's Winter Camp! Every day will be a new adventure-- new TKD techniques, jumping kicks, music and weapon forms! Along with TKD training, we will go on different field trips, including: park, movie theatre, arcade and much more! See you there!

WATKD Strikes Gold at the NCTA All California Championships

Competitors who went to the NCTA All California State Championships on November 5th came home with some bling! After lots of hard training and coaching from Sensei, the students went out to the competition floor to perform their katas. The crowd and judges alike were wowed by their skills and each WATKD competitor won 1st place in their divisions. Not pictured above are three of our Black Belts: James Gilbeaux (1st in Sparring), Billy Louie (1st in Kata), and Mieke Rosecrans (1st in Kata, 1nd in Sparring). Congratulations guys! :)

People and Places We Love

As a family business, we love to support other family businesses within our dojo and community. That is what we are starting to put together a directory of the people and places we love. If you would like to submit your business to be added to the directory, please email us a photo of your business logo, a business description (including address, contact info, etc), and preferably a photo of you and your WATKD family (that way people can match your face to your name when they see you at the dojo!) We will put together a binder book with all of the family businesses within our dojo-- anything ranging from artists, to web designers, to auto mechanics, to landscapers, and so on. We think this is a great way for all of our dojo families to connect and support each other. Ooos!
